About Us

The origins of ourOff-Road passion

TECNOSPORT was established in Como, Italy, during the 1980s, fuelled by a genuine passion for adventure. Since its inception, it has evolved into a leader in international Rally Raid, competing in esteemed events like the Dakar and winning the FIA World Cup in both the T2 category (series production vehicles) and the T1 category (prototype cross-country vehicles).

The early experimental projects involved brands such as Mercedes and Range Rover until 1992, when a partnership with Nissan was established. Throughout the 1990s, this collaboration produced numerous T1, T2, and T3 vehicles that significantly impacted both the Italian and global scenes, consistently achieving podium positions and victories.

Building on this experience and its longstanding partnership with Nissan, TECNOSPORT advanced in developing vehicles capable of conquering the harshest deserts and performing across all terrains.

The world of rally raid since the 1990s

From the early 1990s, TECNOSPORT officially entered the global Rally Raid scene, during the years when the Dakar first embraced the formidable challenge of South Africa. Since then, the Como-based team has participated in and won several FIA World Cup events. In 1991, TECNOSPORT’s founder, Maurizio Traglio, himself won the FIA World Cup in the Truck category, driving a Mercedes Unimog.

Today, TECNOSPORT offers both professional and amateur drivers the opportunity to compete in the world’s most prestigious Rally Raid events, with vehicles specifically designed to meet the strictest and most current FIA regulations. The team also manages on-site logistics and delivers comprehensive technical support throughout each event.

FIA Cross Country World cup

Over the years, TECNOSPORT has accumulated many trophies, titles, and memorable achievements, culminating in the defence of its World Championship title in 2008.

That year, the team won the FIA Cross Country World Cup T2 category with Artur Ardavichus and Denis Berezovskiy — a victory later repeated by the same driver in 2015. More recently, TECNOSPORT competed in the Dakar Classic in Saudi Arabia, finishing third overall in 2023, then second overall in 2024 and 2025.

Throughout its history, TECNOSPORT has competed and achieved victories alongside many distinguished drivers and co-drivers, including: Paolo Bedeschi, Denis Berezovsky, Miki Biasion, Daniele Bottallo, Elena Borroni, Rudy Briani, Valentina Casella, Sandra Castellani, Gian Paolo Cavagna, Filippo Colnaghi, Maurizio Colombo, Giacomo Clerici, Urbano Clerici, Jean Paul (Polo) Cotrett, Lucas Cruz, Maurizio Dominella, Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia, Franco Germanetti, Dominique Housieaux, Joanna Lemos, Fabian Lurquin, Jean Marie Lurquin, Cameron Moore, Jose Luis Monterde, Lucky Montorfano, Elder Oliveira, Edi Orioli, Adriano Panatta, Francesco Pece, Oscar Polli, Francesco Proietti, Clay Regazzoni, Jérôme Riviere, Irene Saderini, Klaus Seppi, Kenjiro Shinozuka, Salvador Servia, Harvey Taz, Lorenzo Traglio, Maurizio Traglio, Rafael Tornabel, Philippe Wambergue.

Service and support make the difference

Over the years, the team has established itself as a recognised benchmark for many passionate drivers, mechanics, and motorsport enthusiasts, owing to its consistent participation in the most prestigious competitions.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, many professional and gentleman drivers competed with a TECNOSPORT vehicle, benefiting from the expertise of an experienced crew and first-class service, with mechanics and support vehicles deployed both on the track and across challenging routes. These elements proved vital to a team committed to overcoming the toughest challenges of long and demanding rallies — in Africa and beyond.

The experience of the como racing team

Since the 1980s, the Como-based team has collaborated with Nissan, developing a wide range of models, including the Patrol GR-Y60/Y61, the Nissan Terrano 1/2, the King Cab, the Navara, and the first and second-generation Pathfinder, as well as the notable Patrol Y62. Over the years, the team has created, designed, and engineered customised solutions to ensure peak performance and reliability in competition.

Vehicle design and preparation also include the development of bespoke chassis and prototypes, specifically created for each client and tailored to the type of competition they plan to face.

Podium performances

Our main aim remains to compete at the highest level. The 2024 season was an exceptionally successful year for our team. In every competition we took part in — both nationally (Artugna Race 2024, Italian Baja 2024, Baja dello Stella 2024) and internationally (Pionniers Classic 2024, Dakar 2024) — we secured podium finishes, with outstanding results from our crews. The same trend continues into 2025, with even stronger performances already underway:

  • Dakar Classic 2025:
2nd place – Crew of Lorenzo Traglio and Roberto Briani
  • Baja Greece - FIA 2025:
2nd place – Crew of Lorenzo Traglio and Francesco Proietti
3rd place – Crew of Maurizio Traglio and Monica Buonamano
  • Romanian Baja 555 TH Auto 2025:
1st place – Crew of Filippo Colnaghi and Stefano Fabiano
2nd place – Crew of Lorenzo Traglio and Francesco Proietti
